Russia
Russia has said it has found a vaccine for the deadly Ebola virus and presented it to the World Health Organisation.
According to the country’s health ministry, the vaccine is so far the only one to have passed all stages of clinical trials.
The vaccine called GamEvac-Combi, has already been patented and was unveiled at the UN office in Geneva, Switzerland.
The Ebola outbreak has killed more than 11,000 people since December 2013 mostly in West Africa. There is still no proven treatment for the fatal disease.
Phase I and II of the vaccine trials have already been done on volunteers in Russia and they proved to be effective.
The 3rd phase of the trials is expected to be done in Guinea in the coming months.
Guinea was one of the worst affected countries by the Ebola epidemic when it broke out in 2014.
